Cheddar Bacon Dip with Ritz Crackers

Posted on March 5, 2009. Filed under: Appetizers |

So when I think of Ritz Crackers and a dip to go with them, it sort of reminds me of my 909 days. When our family functions or weekend BBQ’s would have a cheese ball, some ghetto crackers, maybe some carrot sticks and ranch, and salsa poured over cream cheese with tortilla strips. Not that there is anything wrong with any of this, it just reminds me of MY 909 days. And if it reminds you of the 909 too, that is no coincidence. Because I think the phone company gives you all those things as a care package when you change your area code. I made the perfect ‘909’ dip for a birthday party today. It tastes really good. Salty and savory.

8 ounces (1 block) low fat cream cheese
1/4 cup reduced fat mayo
1/4 cup plain non fat yogurt
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
3 tbsp fresh bacon bits
2 cups Cheddar Jack cheese mix
1/2 tsp garlic powder
sprinkle onion powder
sprinkle red pepper
dash of blackpeper

Mix all ingredients, at room temperate in a small bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.

Serve with a side of Ritz Crackers.
