Ho Sum CALIFORNIENTAL Cuisine

I went and enjoyed a fabulous dinner here last night with some old college friends.

Here is what we ordered:

HO SUM CHICKEN SALAD
-lettuce, chicken, in a red ginger dressing. It is refreshing and light. I am not sure how light it actually is because there are fried rice noodles in it. ut it doesn’t taste heavy.

CALIFORNIENTAL CHICKEN BROTH– tofu squares, mushrooms, green onion, and sprouts

HO SUM’S “VEGGIE FEAST”- broccoli, water chestnuts, carrots, mushrooms, zuccini, and white onion in a garlic soy oil sauce. It is very good, but next time I will ask for less saue. It was just too much sauce.

ORIENTAL ARTICHOKE– steamed artichoke, halved in a sweet and spicy sauce. Really good and lots of flavor.

NOODLES MARCO POLO- Chinese spagetti noodles with ground chicken meat. It looks like cat throw up on a bed of noodles. They said it tasted good. But neither of them finished it. So, I am not sure any of us would ever order this again.

STEAMED RICE- just plain steamed white rice. Not sticky, not running, perfectly cooked.

We were there for almost 2 hours catching up and just chit chatting. And they just kept refilling our drinks and never rushed us out.

I think I want to try their Sunday brunch. $13 for a ton of food and drinks. I have had lunch and dinner with many friends here. It is a healthier and cozier environment compared to most restaurants. It is right in the middle of the “Newport Scene” but it is not “newportesq” at all. Which I love.

You should go enjoy a meal in or to go if you have never been here.
